Jianqing Fan, the Frederick L. Moore Professor in Finance, was the 2021 Le Cam Lecturer, one of the highest honors given by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics to a mathematical statistician once every three years. He spoke at the annual Joint Statistical Meetings (with over 6000 participants) on A Theory of PCA and Spectral Clustering.
