Late spring was very busy for the Great ORFE Class of 2018. Beginning with Senior Thesis turn in day on April 17th. The sun was not shining and the air was not warm but smiles were everywhere when a few students alongside Professor Kornhauser, braved the cold water and jumped into the Fountain of Freedom. The official picture however had all the seniors photographed within the warmth of Sherrerd Hall.

In September Professor Ahmadi will attend the National Academy of Engineering Frontiers of Engineering Symposium . This events purpose is to bring together emerging engineering leaders. This year's event will be hosted by MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

The last faculty meeting for the ORFE Department was bittersweet as we celebrated the end of Professor Rene Carmona's term as Chair. Faculty and staff gathered to give thanks. Incoming Chair Ronnie Sircar and Founding Chair Erhan Cinlar along with other faculty and staff were on hand to toast the end of this distinguished period for Professor Carmona.
