From Left to Right: Bachir El Khadir, advised by Professor Amirali Ahmadi, successfully defended his thesis titled “Semidefinite Representations in Semialgebraic Optimization and Dynamics-Oriented Learning.” Bachir is currently a Herman H. Goldstine Memorial Postdoctoral Fellow at IBM. Emmanuel Ekwedike, advised by Professor William Massey, successfully defended his thesis titled “Optimal Decision Making via Stochastic Modeling and Machine Learning: Applications to Resource Allocation Problems and Sequential Decision Problems". Emmanuel joined Perspecta Labs as a Research Scientist. Hao Lu, advised by Professor Mengdi Wang, successfully defended his thesis titled “Machine Learning for Decision Making: Applications to Off-Policy Learning and Combinatorial Optimization.” He will be joining Susquehanna International Group as a Quantitative Researcher.
