Awards and Honors

Professor Jianqing Fan was awarded the Guy Medal in Silver of Royal Statistical Society for 2014 for his path-breaking research in high-dimensional statistical learning and inferences, important contributions to non-parametric and semi-parametric statistics, and his service to the international statistical community.

Professor Warren Powell has been awarded an honorary doctorate from The University of Quebec at Montreal . The degree was given for his development of quantitative approaches to complex operational problems and in particular to his transformative contributions to the field of transportation logistics.

Professor Robert Vanderbei has been selected Fellow of the American Mathematical Society for his contributions to linear programming and nonlinear optimization problems.

Professor Ramon van Handel has been selected to receive the 2012 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. This award is the highest honor bestowed by the United States Government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.
