Professor Bartolomeo Stellato has received the 2025 Young Investigator Program award from the Office of Naval Research (ONR).
The goal of this project is to develop a data-driven framework for the analysis and design of large-scale optimization algorithms. These advances can transform a wide range of disciplines within engineering, applied mathematics, and computer science where optimization is not used because it is considered unsafe and computationally prohibitive, but real-time responsiveness and safety are required.
Celebrating its 40th year, ONR’s Young Investigator Program is one of the nation’s oldest and most competitive basic-research, early-career awards in science and technology. Its purpose is to fund tenure-track academic researchers whose scientific pursuits show outstanding promise for supporting the Department of Defense, while also promoting their professional development.
