Yihong Gu has received the Charlotte Elizabeth Procter Fellowship from the Princeton University Graduate School for the 2024-25 academic year.  Established in 1912, this honorific fellowship recognizes outstanding performance and professional promise.

Yihong is advised by Professor Jianqing Fan who praises the depth and breadth of Yihong's research.  He emphasizes Yihong’s remarkable creativity and capability, making numerous fundamental contributions at the interfaces among statistics, machine learning, and optimization.

Yihong’s research focuses on understanding the representation power of neural networks and developing provably efficient methods in learning complicated associations and causality from data with little supervision and cause-effect knowledge.
