Irina Wang has received the Wallace Memorial Fellowship from Princeton University Graduate School for the 2024-25 academic year. This honorific fellowship, founded in 1930 by the bequest of Bonnie Wallace LeClear, is the highest award conferrable to graduate students in the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Irina’s advisor, Professor Bartolomeo Stellato, regards her as an outstanding PhD student who combines deep theoretical analysis with implementation on real-world applications.
Irina focuses her research on decision-making under uncertainty, a crucial component across diverse fields of science and engineering. Irina uses machine learning to model the effects of uncertainty in order to make high-quality provably-safe decisions, and conducts theoretical analysis of the performance of various frameworks. Besides her significant methodological contributions, she is also developing an open-source software package to easily disseminate her research to a non-technical audience.
