Professor Bartolomeo Stellato has received the National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award. The title of his project is "Learning for Real-Time Embedded Optimization". Professor Stellato aims to use data to develop new efficient and robust optimization tools for real-time decision-making, with applications in energy, transportation, and robotics, including space exploration and unmanned aerial vehicles. His project features the development of open-source software and a synergistic education plan to train future engineers by promoting optimization and computational thinking. The CAREER Award is the most prestigious award from the NSF in support of early-career faculty "who have potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization".
