Professor John Mulvey elected INFORMS Fellow

Professor John Mulvey has been elected Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS) at this year's annual INFORMS meeting held in San Francisco, CA, November 13-16, 2005. 

John Mulvey is one of the top operations researchers in the world with contributions to the theory and practice in a number of areas. He has been one of the pioneers in the development of linear, non-linear, and stochastic programming, both in methodology and numerical algorithms. He has made major research contributions to financial engineering and wrote many ground breaking articles on dynamic portfolio analysis and asset liability management. His research helped such government agencies as IRS, Joint Chiefs, and the U.S. Army and has improved the performance of many firms such as American Express, Pacific Mutual, St.Paul Insurance, and Towers Perrin Tillinghast (this last work was the finalist in the prestigious Edelman Prize of INFORMS). He has also served on the editorial boards of numerous journals and represented Operations Research on National Academy committees.
