probability

Probability theory is the mathematical description of random phenomena. Probability plays an increasingly important role in almost all areas of engineering and science. Probability research in ORFE ranges from theoretical to applied, with particular emphasis on stochastic analysis and its applications in various areas including financial mathematics, stochastic networks and queueing, signal and image processing, and stochastic control.

Research Training Group (RTG) in Stochastic Analysis and Applications

The focus of the Research Training Group (RTG) in Stochastic Analysis and Applications group is stochastic analysis as it applies to a wide range of problems emanating from areas as diverse as large scale stochastic networks, stochastic partial differential equations and market models, rare events and extreme operational risk, dynamic risk management with risk measures, credit derivatives, emissions markets and environmental finance, and other applications of financial mathematics.
