About ORFE
Welcome to the Department of Operations Research & Financial Engineering, part of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University. ORFE is engineering for business, commerce, and industry.
Our students are innovators and entrepreneurs. They acquire the skills to become leaders in finance, information technology, management consulting, operations planning and insurance. Our researchers develop tools used to make better decisions, improve performance of complex systems, and manage resources efficiently.
The Department was formed in 1999 and traces a distinguished history to activities at Princeton between 1930 and 1960.
Dedication of Sherrerd Hall, April 4, 2009
Sherrerd hall was dedicated on April 4 in honor of the late John J.F. (Jay) Sherrerd '52, one of Princeton's most active and devoted alumni. Mr. Sherrerd studied economics at Princeton and earned an MBA from the Wharton
Princeton Hosts 5th Oxford-Princeton Workshop on Financial Mathematics & Stochastic Analysis
Princeton Hosted the 5th Oxford-Princeton Workshop on Financial Mathematics & Stochastic Analysis on March 27-28, 2009, in Sherrerd Hall. These workshops are held approximately every eighteen months as an opportunity for leading groups of researchers in, primarily, mathematical and computational finance from Oxford University and Princeton University to collaborate and interact.
William Massey, Edwin S. Wilsey Professor of Operations Research and Financial Engineering, receives MLK Day Journey Award for mentoring efforts
Professor Massey was honored for his efforts to support underrepresented minorities in the fields of science and technology. He received Princeton University's MLK Day Journey Award, which recognizes efforts to continue the journey to achieve Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision for America.
