Q. How do I apply for admission to the ORFE graduate program?
A. Use the Graduate Application form to do so via the web or postal mail.
Q. When is the deadline for Fall Semester admission?
A. Information regarding deadlines is available via the Graduate School Admission Schedule.
Q. I took TOEFL exam three years ago. Can I submit those scores?
A. No. TOEFL scores are good for 2 years only.
Q. I am an international student who graduated from a U.S. university with a 2-year full- time master degree. Am I required to submit TOEFL scores to be considered for admission?
A. All applicants whose native language is not English and who have not received their undergraduate education in a U.S. college or university must submit scores from one of two internationally recognized assessments of English language proficiency, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

A. Yes
Q. Can I submit GMAT scores instead of GRE?
A. No, we require GRE.
Q. Should I take GRE Subject Test or General Test?
A. We need scores for GRE General Test.
Q. My GRE scores are four years old, can I submit them?
A. Yes, GRE scores are good for five years only.
Q. What undergraduate degree is required for consideration?
A. A bachelors degree in engineering, sciences or mathematics is normally required for admission to the graduate program.
Q. What kind of undergraduate background would make me a better candidate for admission into your program?
A. We look for students with a strong quantitative background. Most of our students have engineering backgrounds. We welcome backgrounds in mathematics and physics as well.
Q. What are the admission standards or chances that I will be admitted into your program?
A. There are no numerical formulas or mechanical rules. Our faculty examine all applicant files carefully and choose, for recommendation to the Graduate School, those applicants who seem the most suited for study here. The final decisions are made by the Graduate School.
Q. Is there a minimum GPA?
A. Depending on the school of your undergraduate education, a GPA of 3.50 and above on a 4.00 scale is preferred.
Q. How many letters of recommendation do I need to submit?
A. You need to submit at least three letters. We prefer recommendors who are familiar with your academic background.
Q. Do you admit a student with a bachelors degree into your PhD program?
A. Yes.
Q. What is the difference between an MSE in Financial Engineering and an MBA in Finance?
A. MSE has a quantitative, more mathematical structure as it befits an engineering degree.
Q. Do you admit students for spring semester?
A. No. Our admission is for fall semesters only.
Q. Is financial aid available to everybody who gets admitted?
A. Decisions on financial aid are made during the admissions process. If you ask for financial aid and if the Department decides to admit you into the PhD program, the Department will arrange for a fellowship or research or teaching assistantship commensurate with your interests and background. The Department generally provides full support for all its PhD students. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide financial aid to students in the masters programs. Q. What is your placement record?
